"Retirada": le musée toulousain des Abattoirs se penche sur "Picasso et l'exil"

C'est l'une de ses toiles qui sera présentée au musée des abattoirs de Toulouse à partir du 15 mars. Un programme organisé à l'occasion des 80 ans de la retirada et baptisé "je suis né étranger" qui comporte une vingtaine d'expositions dans toute la région Occitanie jusqu'en avril 2020. Elle aborde pour la première fois l'exil espagnol et Picasso à travers les oeuvres de l'artiste et son engagement politique contre le franquisme et en soutien des exilés espagnols après l'exode en 1939 de 500 000 espagnols qui vont dans des camps de réfugiés. Il meurt en 1973 sans être retournée en Espagne. L'exposition montrera l'impact de l'exil dans la vie et dans l'œuvre de Picasso et de ses compatriotes artistes.

Au total plus de 30 oeuvres de Picasso et 60 oeuvres d'artistes contemporains et exilés sont exposés sur les 3 niveaux du musée des Abattoirs.

Sont présentées dans cette exposition plus d'une trentaine d'œuvres de Pablo Picasso (peintures, dessins, gravures, sculptures et livres) et viennent s'ajouter plus d'une centaine de photographies et d'archives inédites, notamment d'archives personnelles de Pablo Picasso, conservées au Musée national Picasso-Paris.
