  • Julian Assange ‘could be expelled from Ecuadorian embassy within days’

"A high-level source within the Ecuadorian state has told WikiLeaks that Julian Assange will be expelled within "hours to days" using the INAPapers offshore scandal as a pretext - and that it already has an agreement with the United Kingdom for his arrest", it wrote.

Ecuador's leader is understood to be claiming that Assange has "repeatedly violated" some conditions of his asylum.

The INA papers are a collection of documents leaked to an Ecuadorian lawmaker and which have implicated President Lenin Moreno in a corruption scandal.

Supporters of WikiLeaks and Assange rapidly called for an increased presence at the Ecuadorian Embassy, located at Number 3, Hans Crescent in London.

Mr Moreno said that "Assange can not lie or, much less, hack into private accounts or private phones".

He added: "We should ensure Mr Assange's life is not at risk but he's violated the agreement we have with him so many times".

Transport is also being provided for pupils to get to and from Saturday's match. "It pretty much sums up the kind of guy he is. It must have cost a fair bit", a source told the paper.

Assange has been a resident of the Embassy building for the past six years, claiming asylum in a bid to avoid extradition to Sweden where he was facing accusations of sexual assault; claims he steadfastly denied.

Earlier, WikiLeaks called Moreno's statements this week "completely bogus", saying it reported on the accusations of corruption against the president only after Ecuador's legislature investigated the issue.

Wikileaks made the claim in a tweet and quoted a high-level Ecuadorian government source.

Swedish prosecutors dropped the rape allegations against Mr Assange and applied to revoke his European arrest warrant.

The Ecuadoran authorities a year ago, for the second time, cut off Assange's access to the internet because of concerns that he was damaging the country's ties to Britain and other European nations, purportedly by criticising Spain's handling of its separatist movement. Then in October, Assange filed suit against Ecuador after they decided to make him, among other things, clean his own bedroom and bathroom and pick up his cat's shits.

Mr Moreno's comments come after the Ecuadoran government filed a formal complaint to the United Nations special rapporteur on the right to privacy, Joseph Cannataci, accusing WikiLeaks of spreading private information linked to Mr Moreno.
