NY -A pilot was pulled from the Hudson River after a helicopter crashed in the water near where the Lincoln Tunnel comes into Manhattan, authorities said.

The helicopter fell short of the landing pad on West 30th Street.

It's believed no passengers were aboard the chopper.

A mobile phone video of the helicopter going down, taken by a WCBS TV editor, showed it descending into the river just feet from the helipad.

The helicopter hit the water around 2:20 p.m., according to the Daily News, and no injuries have been reported. Deckhand Edwin Montoya used a maritime rescue device called a Jason's Cradle off the bow of the ship to help pull the pilot aboard, according to the ferry company.

"It was just instinct". Just another day for NY Waterway rescues. "We're right here. Edwin Montoya is an outstanding deckhand. He moved instantly to the rescue", NY Waterway Capt. Adam Sciaino said in a statement. Fortunately, the pilot - 34-year-old Eric Morales - was alone in the helicopter when it descended into the water, and he only sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the CBS News.

Liverpool are bidding for their sixth European Cup, which would be their first piece of silverware under Jurgen Klopp. Speaking in an interview quoted by BBC Sport , Robertson said: "We are a tight-knit group, a young group".

No other people were aboard but a worker at the heliport was hurt by flying debris, the fire department said on Twitter. Several NYPD and FDNY boats were alongside the helicopter.

The chopper was mostly beneath the water, but inflatable pontoons kept it from totally sinking. The helicopter's top rotor blades and tail boom appeared to have broken off. Investigators responded to the crash site, the agency said.

Police shut down parts of 12th Avenue between West 42nd Street and West 23rd Street for a few hours.

A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near a busy Manhattan heliport Wednesday and partially sank, but not before the pilot was able to escape.
