Pour la première fois, samedi, Boeing a reconnu des défauts liés aux avions 737 MAX, impliqués dans deux catastrophes aériennes ayant fait 346 morts. Selon lui, le logiciel utilisé dans les simulateurs de vol était incapable de reproduire certaines conditions de vol, notamment celles ayant conduit à l'accident du 737 MAX d'Ethiopian Airlines le 10 mars dernier au sud-est d'Addis d'Abeba quelques minutes seulement après le décollage, faisant 157 morts. Un précédent crash d'un Boeing 737 Max de la compagnie Lion Air avait fait 189 morts en octobre. Idem pour American Airlines.

Second obstacle ensuite, la FAA va réunir le 23 mai prochain à Fort Worth (Texas) des régulateurs du monde entier pour faire le point d'une part, sur les correctifs apportés au MCAS par Boeing et de l'autre, sur les améliorations qui concernent le programme de formation des pilotes.

Cela s'explique, selon Southwest, par le fait que, lors de la certification du MAX, Boeing avait souligné que les différences avec le NG étaient minimes et pouvaient être comblées par une simple formation supplémentaire sur ordinateur et en ligne des pilotes.

La Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), l'agence européenne de la sécurité aérienne (AESA) et le régulateur canadien avaient approuvé ces recommandations. Après avoir mis en cause les pilotes, l'avionneur vient d'avouer que les simulateurs de vol chargés de les former avaient plusieurs défauts.
