PRESIDENT DONALD Trump's state visit to Britain, beginning later today, was always going to be a fractious affair despite Brexit - or the small matter of a Tory leadership contest.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump said he would have "to get to know" Jeremy Corbyn if he became prime minister before authorising the sharing of highly sensitive U.S. intelligence. "I don't believe he has the best interests of Europe at heart".

Trump said it was a mistake for the Conservatives not to involve Farage, the Brexit Party leader, in negotiations with Brussels after his success in European Parliament elections.

President Trump and his wife, Melania, should not receive the red carpet treatment when his "divisive behaviour flies in the face of the ideals America was founded upon - equality, liberty and religious freedom", the London politician said. He has a lot to offer.

Earlier this month, Mr Khan said Mr Trump should not have been invited for a state visit because he was not in the same "class" as his predecessors Barack Obama and George W Bush. He said Britain should refuse to pay the £39bn divorce bill, saying it was a "tremendous number".

Trump has also taken the unusual step of saying that Conservative Party leadership candidate Boris Johnson would make an "excellent" leader for the United Kingdom.

The US president told the Sunday Times: "If you don't get the deal you want, if you don't get a fair deal, then you walk away".

Mexican president responds to Trump’s threat to impose tariffs
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo by phone and said face-to-face talks between the two would take place Wednesday in Washington. The president levied 25 percent tariffs on steel imports and 10 percent tariffs on aluminum imports in March of past year .

On Sunday, Khan described the president as "just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat" and compared the language he has used to that of the "fascists of the 20th century". His brief working visit to Britain last summer generated huge protests in the streets of London even as Trump stayed - literally - above the fray by relying on a helicopter to get around.

He also urged the Labour leader to "get along with the United States" if he wants Britain to continue to benefit from USA military and intelligence support, the paper reported.

"And they are gaining ground and winning power and influence in places that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago", he says.

Trump spoke of the "opportunity for a very big trade deal" between London and Washington.

Trump will be welcomed to London on Monday by Queen Elizabeth II at the start of a three-day state visit that will also include talks with May and a ceremony marking 75 years since the D-day landings. Asked if that included healthcare, he replied: "I would think so".

Farage, who led the unofficial campaign to leave the European Union in the 2016 Brexit referendum, wants to leave the bloc without any agreement.

He said Britain must be careful not to jeopardise intelligence-sharing by letting Chinese firm Huawei Technologies Co Ltd into its 5G mobile phone network.
