Rathburn said she does not known if her son's bullies have been disciplined.
A teacher, who hasn't been named, alleged Rathburn told the kids while she didn't know who was responsible for the bullying "she was going to find them and their mums". She now is no longer allowed on school property and has been placed on trespass notice for all Greenville County schools. "But honestly, I don't know how I could have gotten my message across any other way".
She's since said she regretted "allowing emotions to control" her behaviour in an interview with the local paper.
She said the school had isolated her son from the rest of the class for her son's safety but felt it was retaliation for her behavior and persistence in trying to get the school to do something about the bullying. "I can't change it though, the only thing I can do is apologize, because that is honest, and try to push forward and put the spotlight on what the real issues are, and that's bullying", Rathburn said.
After one incident where a student was allegedly making faces at her son, a teacher said he told Ms Rathburn's son to "ignore him, stay away and be the bigger man, and I think it will stop", according to an email Ms Rathburn shared.
The mother approached a group of students waiting outside her son's classroom on May 17 and warned them to stop messing with her child before storming off, the Greenville News reports.
Rathburn started a Facebook page called Moms over Bullies, where she tries to raise awareness of the seriousness of bullying in school and the emotional and psychological impact it may have, as well as on ways to how to discover it and how to avoid it.
Police were only alerted to the incident when Rathburn later posted a seven-minute "video rant" on Facebook admitting she'd had a stern word to a number of kids before class. Her son is in Year 3.
Three days later, Rathburn was arrested and charged with disturbing schools and released the same day. "I can't watch them on field day".

"I was becoming a statistic because nobody listened to me", Rathburn said.
