  • No Sarin in Package Received at Facebook Headquarters

The social networking giant is investigating the matter in co-ordination with local authorities.

After assessing all of the circumstances, the United States Postal Service and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) were requested because the suspected package had been mailed via the US Postal System.

Sarin, which is colourless, odourless, and tasteless, was reportedly detected by mail scanning machines in the facility.

"Authorities have confirmed test results were negative for any potentially risky substance and the buildings have been cleared for repopulation. Our rigorous security and safety procedures worked as meant to limit exposure and keep our people safe".

The FBI says in a statement Tuesday the agency and its law enforcement partners "thoroughly tested the items in question and determined them to be non-hazardous".

According to SFGate, at least two people at the mailing facility might have been exposed to the substance.

Turkey's Erdogan: Russian missile defense system to arrive in 10 days
Relations between Turkey and the United States have deteriorated in recent months because of Ankara's S-400 deal with Moscow. He also recalled that Ankara was awaiting the delivery of 100 fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets.

Initial reports that two people were exposed and needed medical attention were false.

A false alarm at Facebook's offices prompted the evacuation of four buildings over the potential presence of deadly poison sarin.

With all that in mind, a hazmat team entered the building around 6 p.m and tested the package.

For the time being, the specialists are still testing the package but the alleged attack has increased the concerns of tech companies over security. A year ago three people were shot after a deranged vegan bodybuilder tried to take revenge for being deplatformed but, to date, no-one has tried a chemical attack. In that case, the shooter appeared to have been angry at how YouTube had handled her channels and videos. The package set off sarin alarms in equipment created to screen all incoming deliveries for toxins.

Fire officials in Menlo Park, California, which is part of Silicon Valley, said the staff was evacuated and the bag was quarantined.
