A Nylander on the move.

Chicago and Buffalo chose to spice things up on a quiet Tuesday, with the Blackhawks sending defenseman Henri Jokiharju to the Sabres in exchange for forward Alex Nylander.

For Nylander, this serves as a welcome change of scenery for the struggling forward.

In the NHL, Nylander has scored three goals and six points in 19 games.

Dylan Strome, a former third overall pick, had similarly flat production in limited duty with the Arizona Coyotes before being acquired by the Blackhawks. Jokiharju, from Finland, posted 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) in 30 games for the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

"Pronounced "joh-kee-HARH-yoo", the 6'0" 190 pound defenseman was selected by the Blackhawks 29th overall in the 2017 draft.

Jokiharju, the No. 29 selection in the 2017 draft, made his National Hockey League debut in October and finished with no goals and 12 assists in 38 games in his first season with the Blackhawks.

Both the Blackhawks and Sabres finished outside the playoff picture last season. But after adding to the unit with the acquisitions of Calvin de Haan and Olli Maatta, Chicago has dealt from a surplus to acquire a raw talent in Nylander.

Alex's father, Michael, played for the Blackhawks from 1999-2002.
