Disturbing video shows girls jumping, beating 15-year-old in Chicago

Detectives are trying to piece together basic facts about the "sick and disgusting crimes" committed against the teen, including where and when the beating took place and who was involved, Officer Jose Jara, a police spokesman, said at a news conference. WLS-TV reports the girl was treated and released at a hospital afterward. An investigation into the footage is ongoing, police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli told via the nypost.

A triggering video was shared on social media on Monday showing a group of teen girls in Chicago beating and punching a 15-year-old special needs girl who had reportedly asked them for train directions.

The friend, who posted the footage online, said that the teenager has a mental disability that developed after the death of her mother.

"These girls jumped by friend Janise Harris who has a mental disability that has been progressing since the passing of her mother".

The exact location of the assault is unclear, but Janise's friend who posted the footage said she was attacked as the group walked her to a nearby Red Line train station.

She tries to defend herself but is bombarded by punches.

Harris' friend posted the video on Twitter to find justice by encouraging others to share and retweet the video.

Many Twitter users prayed and voiced their concern using the social media tag #JusticeForJanise. Authorities said they are also investigating whether she was also sexually assaulted.
