Four people shot dead, two wounded in Los Angeles shooting spree

Zaragoza is accused of then opening fire at a gas station in North Hollywood about 45 minutes later.

An LAPD spokesman had no information on any bond set for Zaragoza, but said he remained in police custody early Friday.

Police say the rampage began around 2am when Zaragoza fatally shot his brother and father in their apartment in Los Angeles' Canoga Park neighborhood.

He was also suspected of trying to rob a man who was attempting to use an ATM in Canoga Park just before 8 a.m., but no injuries were reported and nothing was taken.

A suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a newer model dark blue, possibly Jeep-style, vehicle with paper plates, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Zaragoza is also suspected of an attempted robbery outside a bank in Canoga Park. They were both taken to a local hospital where she died.

Authorities say Gerry Dean Zaragoza is considered armed and risky and may be driving a Jeep Liberty with paper license plates.

Rubenstein says a man and woman were taken to hospitals in critical condition. Their relationship to the suspect is under investigation.

Los Angeles police are looking for a young man suspected of shooting two family members and wounding a third.

The first shooting happened around 2 a.m.at the family's apartment home located near the intersection of Roscoe and Topanga Canyon boulevards. "It is obviously an individual that went on a violent spree", Capt William Hayes said.
