  • A$AP Rocky charged with assault in Sweden

USA rapper A$AP Rocky was charged by Swedish prosecutors on Thursday after a June 30 incident in which the 30-year-old became involved in altercation on a Stockholm street.

The 30-year-old Grammy-nominated artist, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, and three members of his entourage were arrested on July 3 in connection with a fight that broke out in the center of Stockholm on June 30.

Meanwhile, Stockholm public prosecutor Daniel Suneson confirmed on Thursday that he had begun criminal proceedings against the trio for "assault causing actual bodily harm".

Following news of the rapper's arrest, the gossip website TMZ published a one-minute video on July 1 that appears to show A$AP Rocky and his companions kicking and punching the two men other men, but what preceded that brief video clip remains unclear.

The Stockholm District Court will set a date for the trial, and Rocky and his two entourage members will remain in custody. In a comment on the video, A$AP Rocky wrote that one of the men "hits security in face with headphones then follow us", adding: "Im innocent".

But Suneson said he concluded otherwise after studying videos available to investigators.

Two Canadian Teens Thought Missing Now Suspects in Double Murder
A member of staff at the hospital said: "The remains arrived in body bags and were put into metal caskets when they were here". Police said they had received approximately 80 tips from the public about the suspects, and more information was coming in.

"In addition to video material, the injured party's statements have been supported by witness statements", he said.

The case has drawn the attention of fellow recording artists and US President Donald Trump. Unfortunately for Rocky, he will continue to be behind bars as his trial is pending.

"This is not justice and this particular instance sheds light on how men of color, particularly black and brown men, are often detained, targeted and incarcerated despite their innocence, including in European countries", said Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) at a press conference earlier this month. When the man refused to stand down, A$AP Rocky's bodyguard appeared to shove him out the way on camera, and the man threw his headset at him.

Some have accused Swedish prosecutors of racism in relation to the case, including ASAP Rocky's mum, but that's something officials have denied, saying they have "no hidden agenda". We don't wanna fight y'all. "I cried", said Nikita Rispers, A$AP Rocky's cousin. One alleged victim, who was also being investigated for attempted assault, assault, and abuse, had the case dropped on July 22.

When asked how she feels about Sweden detaining her son, she said: "I don't wanna say it, I really don't". He allegedly told the police, "I got him down on the ground".
