  • St. Joseph County Police Department is Julianne March. March 49 of Waukesha Wis. a flight attendant on a Chicago-to South Bend flight has been charged Thursday Aug. 8 2019 with public intoxication and

Charging documents detail that the woman's erratic behavior made some passengers feel "scared for their lives" during the flight from Chicago to South Bend, Ind.

A severely intoxicated flight attendant was apprehended in IN after passengers saw her stumbling all over the cabin - and then passing out in her seat for the entire flight, according to reports. The Tribune reported that passengers said that March had "slurred" her way through the security demonstration.

A passenger, who only gave his name as Dan, told ABC News even the pilot wasn't able to get in touch with March. He said once they were in the air, a female passenger noticed March wasn't buckled in with a seatbelt, so she helped strap her in. United Airlines apparently didn't get the memo because the woman was sacked and subsequently charged with endangering passengers.

When officers asked her where she was, she said Chicago.

She then was administered a Breathalyzer test, registering at 0.204, five times the legal limit for flight attendants, according to documents.

This is the fifth case of drunk USA airline employees getting caught just this year.

Julianne March, 49, of Waukesha, Wis., was charged Thursday with misdemeanor public intoxication.

Air Wisconsin told the Tribune in a statement that "the flight attendant was detained by authorities after a report of possible impairment". Her next court date is scheduled for August 29.

March was arrested and taken to St. Joseph County Jail, according to airport logs.

Speaking to WISN-TV about March's arrest, Sara Nelson of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, Nelson said, "In the aviation industry, safety comes first, and we always take swift action to correct when there's something that's unsafe".

"We will continue to cooperate with local authorities and assist them as necessary".
