Meng was arrested December 1 at Vancouver airport at the behest of the US, which is seeking her extradition to face allegations of fraud in violating Iranian sanctions.

The US has charged Huawei with operating a secret subsidiary in Iran that obtained American goods, technologies and services there in violation of US sanctions. Ltd. higher-ups in other USA airports show a pattern of the American government's "historical abuse of customs and immigration powers" that are similar to the alleged misconduct of the Canadian authorities.

Reuters reported on Wednesday that the two global banks have been named in newly released documents that form part of the case against Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, who is the daughter of the telecoms giant's founder. Instead, three CBSA officers immediately detained Meng when she disembarked the plane while two RCMP officers stood nearby and watched, despite their knowledge of the warrant calling for her "immediate" arrest, the defence says. During her two-hour detention, USA officials accessed her deleted files from at least one device before telling her the stop was visa-related and letting her enter the country, the filing alleges.

The new Canadian court documents detail allegations that American border officials have abused their power numerous times to search Huawei employees and seize evidence from their phones and computers. Alongside the documents, videos showing last year's arrest of Huawei's chief financial officer have also been released. Toward the end of her examination, one CBSA officer questioned her "pointedly" about Huawei and Iran, and was "again careful not to disclose the reason for her detention, her right to counsel, and her imminent arrest", the memorandum states. Her lawyers say that contravened the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which states that everyone has the right "not to be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned".

Dhillon says in his declaration that he asked Meng what she did for work, whether her company sold products to the US and whether it sold products in countries that it should not.

"From the outset of the applicant's detention", the RCMP and border agents were acting on behalf of "the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the objective of obtaining and preserving evidence", Meng's lawyers said.

The almost 1,100 pages of material released Tuesday were collected by Meng's defence team, which plans to argue that her arrest at the Vancouver airport on December 1 was unlawful.

Tensions between China and Canada have escalated ever since and have spewed into the trade market, with China banning Canadian imports on beef, pork, canola and soybeans.

The materials discussed today are exhibits her defence team plans to use as evidence in its request for access to further documentation during an eight-day disclosure hearing scheduled to begin September 23.

Meng's extradition trial is to begin January 20, more than a year after she was taken into custody.
