Soyuz craft carrying robot cosmonaut fails to dock with ISS

  • The unpiloted Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft appears near the International Space Station after an aborted docking

After an attempt to make the attachment, which was scheduled for around 5.30am GMT, a live broadcast of the event was cut.

It is carrying a robot called Fedor, which will perform two weeks of tests aboard the space station.

It is now floating in the Soyuz rocket around 100 metres from the station.

The space agency known as Roscosmos was carrying a humanoid robot known as Skybot F-850.

In this photo distributed by Roscosmos Space Agency Press Service in July, the FEDOR robot is pictured before being loaded into a Soyuz capsule.

The mission blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Thursday, with the Fedor taking the captain's seat on Soyuz.

The robot, Skybot F-850, also known by the male Russian name Fedor, is created to conduct operations that would be "especially unsafe for a human", Russian space agency Roscosmos said in a statement.

The Soyuz craft had to retreat to a "secure distance" from the ISS, Russian news agencies said, quoting the space flight control centre.

Research suggests physical activity, at any intensity, can help you live longer
Intensity is usually separated into light, moderate and vigorous and the time in these intensities is then estimated. Previous research has repeatedly suggested that sedentary behaviour is bad and physical activity is good for health.

The first of its kind ever sent up by Russian Federation, the Skybot F-850 blasted off in the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft from Russia's Baikonur cosmodrone in Kazakhstan on Thursday. (Let's go!) during the launch. In 2017, a Russian official posted a video on his Facebook page that showed a Fedor robot it being worked on by the Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects.

FEDOR, which is 1.8 meters tall and weighs 160 kilograms, even has Instagram and Twitter accounts. It was to trial these guide abilities in very low gravity.

The United States sent a robot into space in 2011 with the aim of working in high-risk environments.

FEDOR is the size of a human adult and can emulate movements of the human body.

Cosmonauts on board the ISS were asked to leave their stations and fix the amplifier by Monday, when the crew will attempt to dock the spacecraft for the first time.

The robot can "crawl, stand up after falling down, take and leave driver's seat in a auto, use tools and operate in a regular building".

Russian experts hope it will one day be able to help build a base on the moon.
