Michael Schumacher 'conscious' after stem-cell treatment in Paris

According to the reports, Schumacher was admitted to Georges-Pompidou European Hospital in Paris to be treated by Professor Philippe Menasche, a well-known cardiothoracic surgeon who is recognized for his work with stem-cell-based treatment plans which he uses to help fix damaged hearts.

The Daily Mail reported that he was operated on by French surgeon Philippe Menasche, who is "best known for performing the world's first embryonic cell transplant on a patient with heart failure in 2014".

"I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland", Todt said.

Schumacher, 50, has been in an induced coma since December 2013 after suffering serious brain injuries in a skiing accident while on holiday. He has been recovering at his family home in Lausanne ever since.

"I am constantly in touch with Corinna, and I totally agree with their decision", he said, referring to Schumacher's wife, according to the Mail.

Le Parisien cited an unnamed nurse at the hospital who provided the update on the German.

Schumacher was taken to a cardiovascular ward on a gurney with a covering that hid his body and face, the Daily Mail reported.

Through the choice of their family, they've previously kept information about his treatment and progress under wraps due to their beliefs of privacy.

"There are millions of people out there who have a genuine affection for Michael, and that's not just his fans in Germany or fans of Mercedes Benz".

"I am sure that techniques and therapies have been developed and tried (with Schumacher) over the last few years that may well help others".

Schumacher's spokesperson though has not commented on the claims made by the newspaper, nor has there been an official statement released by the hospital on the admission of the seven-time F1 champion.

Stem cell treatment is often sought out by the families of individuals who have undergone a traumatic brain injury as a way to restore neuroplasticity and help to promote the fix of otherwise permanent damage.
