"We, the people, have made a decision to do your job and Tell the Truth from the BBC Broadcasting House about where we're headed if we don't change course", Extinction Rebellion said in a statement on its Facebook page about the latest stunt.

More than 1,100 people have been arrested during a week of climate protests, including at Trafalgar Square and the BBC's New Broadcasting House.

The demonstrators demanded to speak to a BBC executive and BBC journalists said they were trapped inside the building because of the number of people protesting outside.

Yesterday, demonstrations focused on London City Airport, where protesters attempted a "Hong Kong-style occupation" of the terminal building, with hundreds blocking the main entrance.

Earlier in the week, Cressida Dick said the protesters were "utterly irresponsible and completely unreasonable" for their determination to occupy central London.

The world-class welterweight didn't break or fracture any bones but suffered facial lacerations, the company said in a statement. Spence recently defeated Porter to win the WBC and International Boxing Federation welterweight titles on September 28.

Several climate activists leading the crowd are wearing hospital breathing masks, and others are carrying Extinction Rebellion flags and signs reading: "Climate change is a health issue".

They urged "rebels" on the streets to "stay strong" in the face of potential arrest.

One demonstrator, Paralympic cyclist James Brown, climbed on top of a British Airways jet, prompting criticism from Dame Cressida, who described the act as "reckless, stupid and dangerous".

Extinction Rebellion activists are protesting in cities around the world, including Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Sydney, and are calling for urgent action on global climate and wildlife emergencies.

On the same day as the airport protests, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Stratford, East London, and an 18-year-old man also died after suffering stab wounds in Camberwell, South London.
