The student, Eimi Haga, who enrolled in a ninja history class pulled the stunt that impressed her professor when he realised she was using invisible ink, reports BBC.

When the characters of Haga's essay revealed themselves in the heat, Yamada - who had promised his students extra marks for creativity - chose to award her an A. Well, "the catch" is that the paper wasn't blank at all; in fact, it was inscribed with an essay written in invisible ink. The first-year student rummaged said she remembered hearing about the invisible ink in an animated TV show she'd watched as a child.

"When the professor said in class that he would give a high mark for creativity, I decided that I would make my essay stand out from others", Haga told the BBC.

Eimi Haga, a member of Mie University's ninja club, turned in an essay on a visit to a museum about the nimble assassins with an attached message to heat it before reading.

Remember when teachers say, "extra marks for being creative?' Well, looks like this obedient student took it rather seriously and came up with the most creative idea that compelled the teacher to give her top grades". She then mixed the soybean extract with water, spending two hours to get the concentration just right to create the ink. While she initially wanted to write the essay on traditional Japanese paper used for calligraphy, the thin sheets burned too easily when heated using a gas stove.

When heated, the ink becomes visible. She opted instead to use normal office paper.

The professor, Yuji Yamada, told the BBC he was "surprised" when he saw the essay. "I was impressed", her professor said, adding that he'd received assignments written in code, but never in invisible ink. "To tell the truth, I had a little doubt that the words would come out clearly".

Haga admitted that her essay's contents were "nothing special" but she was confident her professor would mark her highly due to the effort she had made.

'I didn't hesitate to give the report full marks - even though I didn't read it to the very end because I thought I should leave some part of the paper unheated, in case the media would somehow find this and take a picture'.
