  • Striking workers wave to supporters from an overpass above Highway 31 in Spring Hill Tennessee

Bob Nardelli, XLR-8 founder, former Chrysler CEO and former Home Depot CEO, joins FOX Business to discuss the United Auto Workers strike and the potential deal between the union and General Motors.

In this webinar, rank-and-file autoworkers debated whether to support the agreement and go back to work, or vote it down and stay out on the picket lines in the hope of achieving something better.

Tony Mann, president of UAW Local 668, confirmed that 75 percent of hourly workers at the facility and 73 percent of skilled trades employees, approved the tentative agreement, which GM workers around the country are voting on this week. "There is a chance they could have some pushback".

The tentative agreement is a win for temporary workers and will put a big ratification bonus in workers' bank accounts, but the company's confirmation that three USA plants will stay closed could spell trouble among rank-and-file union members.

The UAW's strike against the company has now lasted 36 days. UAW regional head Vance Peterson has been charged with embezzlement of union funds, money laundering, aiding and abetting, conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, and filing and maintaining false union reports to the government.

The deal makes it easier for temporary workers to get full-time status.

"I'm still all in favor of temporaries on the path to accrue seniority".

It will also reopen the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, but leave the Lordstown, Ohio plant closed.
