  • Justin Thomas made seven birdies and two bogeys to move to 20 under and claim victory by two shots

Justin Thomas claimed his 11th PGA Tour title at Nine Bridges on Sunday with a five-under 67, overcoming a final round battle with Danny Lee in Korea to win on 20-under-par.

Justin Thomas loves playing in Asia - on Sunday he took his record on the continent to a remarkable four victories in nine starts when he won the CJ Cup for the second time in three years.

Lee extended the gap after going from bunker to bunker on his way to blemish at the 16th, as Thomas recovered from a two-putt bogey at the 17th to match the New Zealander's birdie at the last and secure his 11th PGA Tour title.

At the Narashino Country Club, near Tokyo, he will come up against the formidable opposition of world number two Rory McIlroy and 15-time major victor Tiger Woods in another 78-player elite $9.75 million event, with no cut. Lee closed with a 69 for his best finish in almost a year.

Thomas finished with a 72-hole total of 20-under 268 at Nine Bridges.

Hideki Matsuyama, Gary Woodland and Cameron Smith finished in a tie for third five shots behind, with Tyrrell Hatton and Byeong Hun An two shot further back in sixth on 13-under.

On the eagle putt on 18, Lee said: "Pretty close".

The Japanese world number four tied for third with America's Kristen Gillman and China's Yu Liu.

He had to chip in for eagle on the par-5 14th to regain the lead.

Jordan Spieth, who was playing in his first event since the BMW Championship, recorded his first top 10 of the season in a tie for eighth with Ryan Moore, Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Wyndham Clark.

It was all change at the 15th where Coetzee's chances disappeared as he found the water twice for a triple bogey.

His winning score of 12 under par edged out Hansen, who made a costly double bogey on 17 and signed for a 68.
