Police in the Russian city of St. Petersburg plan to interrogate a prominent professor who has been detained on suspicion of killing a female student after he was pulled from a frigid river with a backpack containing severed arms.

Police reportedly then went to Sokolov's dwelling the place they found the decapitated physique of Anastasia Yeshchenko, 24, with whom he had co-authored quite a lot of works. Sokolov was hospitalized on Saturday for hypothermia but on Sunday was taken to a police station for questioning.

Students at the university have since described Sokolov as a "freak", stating he would often do impression of Napoleon and would call his lover "Josephine".

Oleg Sokolov, 63, was trying to dispose of the severed body parts of his girlfriend when he slipped and fell into the Moika.

He is said to have planned to get rid of the body before publicly committing suicide dressed as Napoleon.
