Une opération conjointe des forces de l'ordre française et espagnole a débuté ce mardi matin à 7h30 pour déloger les manifestants indépendantistes qui bloquent depuis la veille l'autoroute Montpellier-Barcelone, reliant la France et l'Espagne, a annoncé la préfecture des Pyrénées-Orientales. Plusieurs centaines de manifestants sont toujours présents sur les voies, pris en tenaille entre les CRS (côté français) et les policiers catalans des Mossos d'Esquadra (côté espagnol).
Impraticable depuis ce lundi matin 9 h en raison du blocage mis en place à la frontière par le Tsunami Democràtic, rassemblement de citoyens militant pour l'indépendance de la Catalogne, l'autoroute A9 est désormais interdite à la circulation sur plus de 60 kilomètres.
Les manifestants déballent vivres, marmites et barbecues à gaz apportés pour tenir "trois jours" selon eux.
Les militants indépendantistes ont défié le froid dans une ambiance bon enfant et ont même dressé une scène sur les voies pour que des artistes catalans viennent s'y produire.
Selon un photographe de l'AFP, des tensions ont eu lieu dans l'après-midi entre manifestants et gendarmes français qui leur demandaient de partir. "Nous luttons pour nos droits, nous voulons la liberté, l'autodétermination et l'amnistie" pour les indépendantistes condamnés, disait-il en catalan.
