Australia's Top Yacht Influencers Are Sailing Greta Thunberg Across The Ocean

A Geraldton woman and her South Australian partner will help teen climate activist Greta Thunberg get from the United States to Spain by boat to attend a UN meeting. "If anyone could help me find transport I would be so grateful", she posted on Twitter on November 1.

'I've been offered a ride from Virginia, USA, on the french 48ft sailing catamaran La Vagabonde.

"Guess what. We're about to sail @gretathunberg across the Atlantic".

Ms Thunberg rose to prominence previous year after she started spending her Fridays outside Sweden's parliament, holding a sign reading "School strike for climate".

"There are countless people around the world who don't have access to a toilet", she said of the upgrade.

The 16-year-old had been seeking an environmentally-friendly way to travel from the U.S. back to Europe. "If anyone could help me find transport I would be so grateful", said the teen, who refuses to fly because of the carbon emissions involved".

"So happy to say that I'll hopefully make it to COP25 in Madrid".

Thunberg just finished a almost three-month trip through North America, where she gave an impassioned speech before the United Nations and took part in climate strike rallies and protests from California to Colorado to North Carolina. She said they're setting sail from Virginia on Wednesday.

"If I get to the COP25 in time then I will participate in that because I received an invitation to do so". Later, she traversed the Americas by train and an electric auto, borrowed from Arnold Schwarzenegger, reportedly a big fan of hers.

They have a YouTube channel boasting more than 1.1million subscribers called Sailing La Vagabonde, which documents their travels onboard the boat.

Ms Thunberg's highly publicised journey has so far involved crossing on a zero-emission sailboat from the coast of England to NY, traveling overland through North America by train and in an electric auto borrowed from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In an interview with AFP, Thunberg said: "He's so extreme and he says so extreme things, so I think people wake up by that in a way".

Ms Thunberg had earlier sent out a plea on social media. "But it feels like the adults and the people in power today are not".

"There are always people who come up to me and ask for selfies and so on", she said.
