Enormous asteroid to fly past Earth Monday

A massive asteroid hit the Earth around 66 million years ago, and it resulted in magnitude 11 earthquakes as well as a sudden climate shift that eventually caused the end of the dinosaur era.

The asteroid has been classified as a Near-Earth Object (NEO) by NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab and was first noticed at the beginning of the year.

Meanwhile, NASA's OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft is already on asteroid Bennu, a 500-meter space rock with the potential to wipe out a country on Earth in 120 years.

The asteroid is 492 feet in diameter and travels more than 60 times faster than a Boeing 747 jet.

NASA has formally registered it as a "near-Earth object" sure to make a "shut method" to our planet.
