Classement Pisa : Les élèves Français dans la moyenne

En France, seuls 45 % des élèves disent coopérer entre eux dans leur établissement, contre 62 % en moyenne dans l'OCDE.

Pour l'hexagone, pas de révolution par rapport à la précédente enquête Pisa publiée en 2016, avec un niveau comparable en lecture, sciences et mathématiques. Parmi les pays de l'Union européenne, l'Estonie occupe la première place devant la Finlande.

Elle fait globalement aussi bien que l'Allemagne, la Belgique ou le Portugal, mais moins bien que les États-Unis ou le Royaume-Uni.

En mathématiques, le score moyen est de 495, légèrement au-dessus de la moyenne de l'OCDE (489 points en 2018 contre 490 en 2015).

Ainsi, environ 20% des élèves favorisés (appartenant au quart supérieur de l'indice Pisa du statut économique, social et culturel), mais seulement 2% des élèves défavorisés, sont parmi les élèves très performants en compréhension de l'écrit, contre seulement 17% et 3% en moyenne dans les pays de l'OCDE.

L'écart entre les résultats des filles et des garçons en compréhension de l'écrit est plus faible en France (25 points) que dans la moyenne des pays de l'OCDE (40 points).

Les résultats seront publiés mardi. La France serait ainsi l'un des pays où un élève issu d'un milieu défavorisé a le moins de chance de réussir. Résultat, ceux des lycées professionnels ont obtenu des résultats inférieurs de 100 points en compréhension de l'écrit par rapport à ceux des lycées généraux et technologiques. Plus inquiétant encore: les jeunes issus de milieux populaires nourrissent peu d'ambitions d'études post-bac, même quand ils sont bons élèves.

Elle a lieu tous les trois ans et jauge les élèves dans trois domaines: "la compréhension de l'écrit, la culture mathématique et la culture scientifique". La France en est rarement sortie grandie, et la dernière édition de l'étude, qui porte sur des tests réalisés en 2018, ne permet pas à notre école de s'échapper du milieu de tableau.

La France se distingue également par des problèmes de discipline qui perturbent l'enseignement.

Véritable baromètre des politiques éducatives, le "programme international de l'OCDE pour le suivi des acquis des élèves " mesure tous les trois ans depuis 2000 le niveau des jeunes de 15 ans à travers le globe".

Cette caractéristique demeure le "point noir " de la France, commente Pauline Givord, analyste à l'OCDE. Ces derniers affirment également ne pas ressentir assez de soutien de la part de leurs enseignants. Et plus d'un élève sur trois déclare penser que son professeur n'apporte jamais ou seulement parfois de l'aide supplémentaire en cours lorsque les élèves en ont besoin (moyenne OCDE: un sur quatre).
