Zimmerman is seeking at least $100 million USA in damages from Martin's parents, state prosecutors and two women whom he accused in a Polk County, Florida, lawsuit of helping provide false statements to investigators and during the trial, according to court papers.

George Zimmerman, is suing the family of Trayvon Martin, prosecutors and many others who were involved in the high profile case - which he claims rested mostly on false evidence. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch volunteer, and thought Martin was an armed intruder. Zimmerman then got into an altercation with Martin, whom he fatally shot.

Zimmerman was acquitted of murdering Martin in 2013.

"Because of the arrest, charges, prosecution and federal investigation, Zimmerman lives in constant fear of physical harm due to regular death threats, which often are expressed in rap music as well as online social media commentary", the suit says.

Zimmerman was acquitted of the murder charge. Also included: several Florida prosecutors, the state of Florida and its law enforcement department - and HarperCollins, which recently published Open Season, Crump's book about violence toward black people.

According to the lawsuit, Brittany Diamond Eugene didn't want to testify that she had been talking to Martin before he was killed.

Klayman said 18-year-old Rachel Jeantel appeared in court two weeks later, posing as Eugene and providing incriminating false statements against Zimmerman.

Crump said in a statement on behalf of the Martin family that the "tale" in the lawsuit "defies all logic, and it's time to close the door on these baseless imaginings".

Crump in a statement described the lawsuit as "reckless" and "another failed attempt to defend the indefensible and a shameless attempt to profit off the lives and grief of others".

One week later, the suit claims, Crump produced a recording of "Diamond Eugene", who he said was Martin's 16-year-old girlfriend who was on the phone with the victims minutes before the confrontation with Zimmerman.

Zimmerman's attorney told the Sun-Sentinel that the allegations did not come out during the trial but "the fraud. was perpetuated on the court".

This plaintiff continues to display a callous disregard for everyone but himself, revictimizing individuals whose lives were shattered by his own misguided actions.

The lawsuit also claims Crump defamed Zimmerman in his new book, 'Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People, ' which was published by HarperCollins on October 15, 2019.

Zimmerman's lawyer in the lawsuit, Larry Klayman, was planning news conference in South Florida on Thursday to discuss the complaint. But the venue, Coral Gables Art Cinema, tweeted Wednesday that it was canceling the rental arrangement, saying it had been unaware of the details.
