  • SpaceX Successfully Launches Supplies, Including Mice, To International Space Station

In a statement Friday, NASA officials said the mission will now lift off no earlier than January 4 from Pad 39A of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, pending launch range approval from the U.S. Air Force.

Fresh supplies to the International Space Station were sent on the Dragon spacecraft, which marks the final cargo mission for 2019.

The Dragon spacecraft that will support the CRS-19 mission previously supported the CRS-4 mission in September 2014 and the CRS-11 mission in June 2017.

SpaceX and NASA originally hoped to launch the test flight, called an In-Flight Abort Test, sometime this month, but an exact launch date was never released. The capsule has almost 3 tons of supplies on board, as well as several research and technology payloads destined for the space station.

It's been nearly nine years since NASA's astronauts traveled to the International Space Station (ISS) with an American-made vehicle.

Experts split sharply over experimental Alzheimer's drug
Biogen will present the additional aducanumab data at the Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease conference in San Diego. He's not likely to participate in such a review because he was involved in one of the studies, the AP reported .

For example, the "Malting ABI Voyager Barley Seeds in Microgravity" experiment will investigate malt produced in space, which will then be compared to malt produced on the ground in order to determine the effects of the microgravity environment.

On board, there's a range of different science experiments, including one from Budweiser seeking to find out how beer production works in space, and new equipment for the ISS, like a robot garage for parking robotic equipment when it's not in use. To put this second stage in the proper orbit for this demonstration, the first stage will need to burn more time and will not have the fuel needed to return to the coast.

SpaceX also recovered the first-stage rocket booster of the brand-new Falcon 9 used in this launch, landing the spent rocket component on its floating drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.

Dragon is scheduled to dock on Saturday.
