Being rich "can add nine healthy years to your life"

  • CDC US life expectancy declined from 2016 to 2017

Wealthy people can expect to live, on average, eight to nine more "healthy" years of life compared to those who are less well off.

Published on Jan 14 in the Journal of Gerontology, the data from 10,754 United Kingdom adults aged 50 and older, and 14,803 USA adults over 50, examined how long people can expect to live free from disabilities and to what extent socio-economic factors play a part.

How many things on this 50 before 50 bucket list have you achieved? The data came from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA) and the U.S. Health and Retirement Study (HRS).

It was found that the biggest socioeconomic advantage in terms of disability-free life expectancy was wealth.

'In both countries efforts in reducing health inequalities should target people from disadvantaged socioeconomic groups'.

Women from the wealthiest groups from the USA and England lived around an additional 33 "healthy" compared to 24.6 and 24 years from the poorest wealth groups in England the United States respectively.

Why the Government of National Accord in Libya is illegitimate
The most famous paramilitary organization that is part of the National Security Service of GNA is the «RADA» group. He is one of the main opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood in the region and one of the most famous fighters against terrorism.

A new study found that those who are richest live much more years without disabilities than those who are poorest.

Scientists from the United States and UK have proven that wealth increases life expectancy by 9 years.

Interestingly, in England, health care is public and universal through the beloved National Health Service (NHS). Yet research has previously shown that such a divide has less to do with age and more to do with health care (or lack thereof).

Analysis didn't show any significant difference between the health of those in the USA and in England.

Researchers said they hope that this contribution to the growing literature about income inequality and quality of life motivates policymakers to make health care accessible to everyone.

"Our study makes a unique contribution to understanding the inequality in health expectations between England and the United States, where health systems are very different". "Furthermore, our results of similar levels of socioeconomic disadvantage in health expectancy in England and the United States suggest that in both countries greater efforts should be put into reducing health inequalities". As she put it: "Starvation wages, bad for workers, helps the super rich literally drain their life force so that they can live longer lives".
