Ukraine's PM Oleksiy Honcharuk has submitted a letter of resignation and President Volodymyr Zelensky will consider it, the presidential office in Kiev said on Friday.

"In order to take away any doubt of respect and confidence in the president, I wrote a letter of resignation and submitted it to the president with the right to submit it to Parliament", he said.

He said the audio "artificially created an impression that my team and I do not respect the president".

Honcharuk, 35, announced he had submitted his resignation to Zelensky in a Facebook post, stating the president is "a model of transparency and decency". He called Zelenskiy "a layman" in economics and said the president should be better educated about the national currency.

On Thursday, lawmakers from the opposition party Opposition Platform-For Life demanded Honcharuk's resignation, saying he and his cabinet discredit Ukraine's president and exacerbate the economic crisis in the country.

All passengers and crew on board the Ukrainian Boeing 737 plane that crashed shortly after take-off from Tehran on January 8, 2020 were killed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
