Asked for her impressions of the event, a clearly underwhelmed Thunberg was to the point, saying "We had a few demands (coming into the World Economic Forum)".

"We can not care about those kinds of things", Thunberg said Friday before the start of a protest in the Swiss town hosting this week's World Economic Forum, where the 17-year-old Swedish activist gave a fiery Tuesday speech.

"The situation is not being treated like the crisis it is", Thunberg added".

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg said her demand at Davos that world leaders immediately stop investing in fossil fuels had been "completely ignored" after she was branded "a joke" by the USA treasury secretary. Of course these demands have been completely ignored.

At a news conference before the march, she acknowledged young climate activists "are being criticized all the time" in comments like those from U.S. Treasury chief Steven Mnuchin.

"If we were careful we could not do what we do".

She called her clashes with Trump "horrible" but added: "We can't care about those types of things. We put ourselves in the spotlight".

Asked about Mr Mnuchin's comments, Ms Thunberg said: "Of course it has no effect".

Thunberg and four other young campaigners spoke to reporters before their "Fridays for Future" protest through Davos.

He said the reason the USA left the Paris climate agreement - which calls for blocking global warming at well below 2C, and 1.5C if possible - "was not because we don't support the environment (but because) we thought it wasn't a fair and balanced agreement".
