There's information about the Mars 2020 mission here. But before this happens, the rover needs a name.

Members of the public can vote for their favorite name for the rover here. The US-based space agency has a very important space mission planned for this year which is now known as "Mars 2020 rover mission". From these nine names, you can helo NASA decide which one is the best.

The space agency chose three proposals in each of the three categories of age- grades K-4, 5-8, and 9-12.

The K-4 suggestions are Endurance (from Virginia's Oliver Jacobs), Tenacity (from Pennsylvania's Eamon Reilly) and Promise (from Massachusetts' Amira Shanshiry).

Perseverance, 5-8, Alexander Mather of Virginia.

Clarity, 5-8, Nora Benitez of California.

Fortitude, 9-12, Anthony Yoon of Oklahoma.

Courage, 9-12, Tori Gray from Louisiana.

Everyone, from any country, is encouraged to pick their favorite in an online poll. However, you will have to act moderately fast; voting will close at midnight EST (0500 GMT) on January 28. The Mars 2020 mission is no exception to this tradition.

NASA's Mars 2020 rover is one step closer to having its own name after 155 students across the USA were chosen as semifinalists in the "Name the Rover" essay contest. A differing board of about 4,700 judge volunteers, made out of teachers, experts and space aficionados from all around the nation, limited the pool down to 155 meriting semi-finalists from each state and region in the nation, Nasa composed on its site. The panel will consist of Lori Glaze, the director of NASA's Planetary Science Division in Washington, NASA astronaut Jessica Watkins, NASA-JPL rover driver Nick Wiltsie, and Clara Ma, who, as a sixth-grade student in 2009, earned the honor of naming the Mars Science Laboratory "Curiosity".

The Mars 2020 official name will be announced after the contest concludes in early March. "The grand prize victor will also receive an invitation to see the spacecraft launch in July 2020 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida".
