  • The Antares rocket with a Cygnus spacecraft on board is raised into the vertical position in 2016 at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia

The launch of a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket carrying an uncrewed Cygnus cargo ship filled with vital supplies - including, yes, some chocolate, cheese and other treats for astronauts - has been delayed at least 24 hours.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the first delay on Thursday was due to bad weather after the Sunday launch was aborted at the last minute due to some sensor readings.

The weather was OK at the launch pad on Wallops Island, Virginia, but upper-level winds exceeded safety limits.

The Wallops NASA Visitor Center will open at 11:30 a.m., February 15, for launch viewing.

It will be Northrop Grumman's third attempt in under a week to launch its Antares rocket with a Cygnus capsule on top. There you will find information about the mission and links to live countdown audio as well as live video of the launch. NASA TV coverage of the launch will begin at 2:45 p.m.

The delivery includes almost 4 tons of experiments and gear, as well as candy and cheese for the three station astronauts.

"Rocket, check. Chocolate, check".

If all goes well, the Cygnus spacecraft will arrive at the International Space Station early Tuesday (Feb. 18), NASA officials said.
