Rush hour in South Los Angeles turned particularly grueling Thursday morning as LAPD units chased down a hearse carrying a casket and corpse that had been stolen from the front of a church Wednesday night, CBS 2 is reporting.

Authorities in California are searching for a hearse with a woman's body inside, after it reportedly was stolen Wednesday outside a church near Pasadena.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department pleaded with the thief on social media to return the body in a post that was widely shared online.

A police pursuit ended with the suspect crashing the SUV into another vehicle on a freeway.
