New Zealand's Prime Minister has hit out at her Australian counterpart at a media conference, telling him it is "corrosive" to the relationship between the two countries that Australia is "deporting your people and your problems".
Standing alongside Prime Minister Scott Morrison at Sydney's Kirribilli House on Friday, Ms Ardern criticised the Coalition's policy, under which about 2000 criminals have been sent back to New Zealand in the past six years.
"Australia is well within its rights to deport individuals who break your laws".
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told media during a visit to Healthline today, that the Government has been prepared for weeks for a potential outbreak on New Zealand shores and the public need not be anxious.
They are being treated in Auckland City Hospital and their condition is improving, a Health Ministry statement said. New Zealand does the same.
"Although we have our first case of COVID-19, the chances of community outbreak remain low", the ministry said.
Roughly 650,000 New Zealand citizens - more than a tenth of the smaller country's population - live in Australia.
"Do not deport your people and your problems", she added as Mr Morrison grimaced.

But the biggest virus clusters have been linked to a hospital and a religious group near the south-eastern city of Daegu. What about China, where the outbreak started? Public health and political experts have cast doubt on this claim.

5 plays that prove Henry Ruggs' blazing 40 speed wasn't a fluke
Ruggs said Tuesday he tried to match Ross' time or set a new record. "I actually didn't ask for the times, " Ruggs said. He was initially clocked at 4.28 on his first of two runs but the official time was recorded at 4.27 seconds.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says while some countries such as Japan are looking at closing schools, there is no need to do that in Australia based on current medical advice.
"It's quite simple - if somebody is New Zealand citizen, or a citizen of another country other than Australia, and they commit a serious offence - we deport them".
There is no need for us to be moving to having mass gatherings of people stopped - if you want to go to the football and the cricket and play with your friends down the street, you can go out to the concert and you can go out for a Chinese meal.
Ms Ardern, who arrived in Sydney on Thursday after visiting Fiji, said she spoke to Mr Morrison about the discussions she had with Pacific leaders on climate change.
She said numerous deportees "on any common sense test" identified as being Australian.
The two normally chummy countries have clashed over Australia's policy of deporting NZ citizens, no matter how long they have been in Australia, if they have committed a crime.
Australian and New Zealand leaders usually keep such differences behind close doors and rarely castigate each other in public. "You commit a crime here, if convicted, once you have done your time, we send you home".
