Coronavirus kills Spanish football coach aged just 21

According to Spanish newspaper Malaga Hoy, Garcia was advised to seek further medical help after struggling to breathe and was told that he had both coronavirus and pneumonia.

The coach who trained Malaga-based club Atletico Portada Alta for the last four years passed away on Sunday soon after being confirmed to have contracted the risky virus.

Malaga Hoy, citing the Atletico Portada Alta's president, Pepe Bueno, said that Garcia had been admitted on Friday 13th.

However, while in hospital he was also diagnosed with leukaemia, and doctors believe he would have survived the virus if he was not suffering from a pre-existing condition.

Garcia is possibly the youngest victim in Europe to die of the global pandemic, the youngest individual to die in Italy was a 38-year-old man who died last week, while China's youngest victim was a 36-year-old male.

Atletico Portada Alta released an official statement via social media following Garcia's death, which reads: "We want to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and close friends of our coach Francisco García who has left us, unfortunately, today".
