  • The deadline for decisions on university choices has been extended by two weeks

Residential Life: Concordia is taking an even more aggressive position to support the health and safety of our community as we seek to limit the spread of COVID-19. "Our priority will be delivering core program courses and prerequisites to support our students' progress through their degrees".

A Metro Vancouver college is warning students and staff about possible exposure after Fraser Health confirmed a student tested positive for COVID-19.

Student services, which offer support for academic advising, tutoring, registration and application processes and help for worldwide students, are now available only online or by phone and staff are working off-site.

"CNC campuses do remain open but we have moved face-to-face classes to an online format", said Chad Thompson, the college's vice-president academic. This is the only member of the College community with a known positive COVID-19 diagnosis, the school says. "Since the transition to remote learning for the remainder of spring that number has dropped and will likely continue to drop as students identify ways to get home", Diorio wrote in an email.

"We initially had about 275 students approved to remain on campus most due to distance from campus".

"We support today's call and believe universities will respond positively to ensure that no student feels rushed into a decision at what is already a hard time".

The past two weeks have presented significant challenge and necessary change in the way we teach, learn, and live in community at Concordia College. As such, the college has planned to hold several days of senior activities the week prior to the rescheduled August 1 commencement.

Madison College officials have said they are trying to best ensure that students, staff and faculty stay safe and healthy. If that should not be possible, every effort will be made to have a suitable event to honor graduating students at a later date.

For commencement and the days prior, Byerly added the college would expect to house seniors on campus. These services became more limited when Governor Wolf restricted business operations to those deemed as "life-sustaining", however. "That's primarily trades activities, but only about 10 per cent of our trades students are now on campus". Employees and students are still expected to work and study from home as previously communicated.
