A rematch between Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods is in the works - and another pair of rivals will reportedly be joining them on the golf course.

CNBC reported 15-time major victor Woods, the reigning Masters champion, would partner with fellow 44-year-old Manning, a two-time Super Bowl victor, against 49-year-old USA left-hander Mickelson, a five-time major victor, and Brady, who won a record six Super Bowls in 20 seasons with the New England Patriots.

The report, which sourced an unnamed person familiar with the negotiations, said the charity match would be held at an undisclosed location without fans and is being organised by the PGA Tour and AT&T's WarnerMedia. Manning and Woods played together in the pro-am at the Memorial previous year. Several reports say it's a go, however, the PGA Tour is cautioning that such reports are "speculative".

A matchup featuring two of the most famous golfers of their era and two of the all-time greatest National Football League quarterbacks would be a rare sporting event during the coronavirus pandemic which has brought the sporting world to a halt.

Barkley also assisted with the 2018 Turner Sports broadcast event when Woods and Mickelson squared off head-to-head.
