3rd COVID-19 death reported in McHenry County

Monroe County reported its first COVID-19-related death Thursday evening. The county said that no more information or details about the infected individuals would be released, citing privacy laws, but said that the Montezuma County Public Health Department is conducting "contact tracing" in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols.

At least one county commissioner went on Facebook saying the cases were all connected to the same facility. The Salinas area continues to have more than 50 percent of the cases at 27, while the Peninsula and Big Sur area have 19 and the combination of North County and South County has seven.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones", Lake County Board of Health President Tim Sashko said.

Kendall County Health Department officials said in a 5:36 p.m. Thursday, April 2 news release the two newly confirmed cases of the coronavirus include one man in his 20s and one woman in her 40s. The 12 facilities have a combined total of 70 confirmed coronavirus cases. Health officials will monitor the person's symptoms. So far, they have collected gowns, masks and gloves for health care workers, local volunteer efforts and high-risk groups, as well as providing supplies and guidance to local businesses working on their own solutions.
