A man found dead on a passenger train in Thailand has tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said on Wednesday, as the country's death toll from the contagion more than tripled from a week ago.

Worawut said that 15 train passengers who had shared the same carriage with the deceased one as well as 11 train employees, who had been in contact with him at Bang Sue railway station and on board the train in which he rode, are now undergoing the test and quarantine process for possibilities of infection. Between Bangkok to Narathiwat, the train's destination, Sahoh reportedly developed a cough and began vomiting. Officials advised the passenger to take a rest at Hua Hin, but he insisted on continuing his journey.
