  • Disney Release Date Shifts for Black Widow Eternals Shang Chi & More

With the global health crisis hitting just about every industry, Disney is looking to adjust its Marvel Studios releases to fit a timeline that suits the recovery needed.

Following the delay in March of several upcoming releases, Disney on Friday announced further changes to its theatrical release schedule as the coronavirus pandemic continues to upend Hollywood.

"Black Widow" - which was delayed last month - will now open November 6, 2020, taking the place of fellow Marvel adventure "The Eternals".

Disney has set new release dates for Marvel Studios' Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Tens Rings, and more. Since theaters won't reopen by then, Disney gave it a holiday release on November 6. The process repeats for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which pushes out Thor: Love And Thunder from November 5, 2021.

Mulan gets the most ambitious release date of July 24, 2020, a slot that was previously held for Jungle Cruise, which is now pushed back a full year to July 30, 2021. At the time of reporting, there's no word on how this might affect any productions after Thor: Love and Thunder, such as Black Panther II, Captain Marvel 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as well as the Sony co-production Spider-Man 3 or any of the Disney+ shows.

One other major change is to Artemis Fowl, which Disney meant to release in theaters on Memorial Day, May 25, but was removed from the schedule and will now debut on its streaming site Disney+ at a TBD date.

Additionally, the new release date for Indiana Jones 5 is July 29, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Ryan Reynolds video game extravaganza Free Guy is moving from August 3 to December 11, in time for Christmas break.

Wes Anderson's "The French Dispatch" is also postponed from July to October 16.
