In 2015, Bill Withers was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Withers was married to Denise Nicholas from January 1973 to 1974. Withers moved to Los Angeles in 1967 to pursue a career in music. Lenny Kravitz is just one of the many people to say something about Withers online. He is survived by his wife Marcia Johnson and their two children.
