Actress Lee Fierro, best known for her role in the 1975 horror thriller classic Jaws, died on Sunday from COVID-19. The first "Jaws" was shot on location there in Mass. The role was one of her few film roles, as Fierro spent a great deal of her life in Martha's Vineyard, working with the Island Theater Workshop. Her character was memorable for walking up to police chief Brody (Roy Scheider), lifting her black veil, and slapping him in the face. She was pissed he let beachgoers hit the sand despite knowing there was a shark on the loose.

"'She would say, 'If you told me that's what I'd be known for, I wouldn't believe it".

Variety reports that the actress had been living in an assisted living facility in OH and was 91.

A small service, due to the social distancing rules in place during the coronavirus pandemic, is being planned by Fierro's family in Ohio.
