Former Detroit Tigers Ace Justin Verlander is among the many people sharing out their memories after legendary Tiger Al Kaline died at the age of 85 on Monday.

Kaline's cause of death was not available.

The baseball outfielder believed by many to be the greatest modern Detroit Tiger has died.

Kaline was an unbelievable baseball player for the Tigers from 1953-1974. making 18 All-Star games and earning 10 gold gloves.

Known as "Mr. Tiger" for his long service to the franchise and his gracious personality, Kaline worked briefly in the team's front office right after retirement, but then picked up a second career as a broadcaster.

Kaline retired with 3,007 career hits and 399 RBIs.

Those accomplishments led to the Tigers retiring Kaline's No. 6 in 1980.

Kaline, who was also known as "Mr. Tiger", spent his entire 22-year career with Detroit. He received 88.3 percent of the vote, and was inducted in his first year of eligibility. Kaline was set to continue working as a special assistant during the 2020 season.
