Looks like Samsung has some new true wireless earbuds in the works - but these will look a little different to those that have gone before. But as nice as they might look, I'm anxious about how they will fit snugly in your ear. The lower part of the bean will go into the ear canal while the top portion would fill the upper part of the ear as is pictured below. The earpieces reportedly also feature built-in microphones for taking calls and likely for a hear-through feature that allows in ambient noise for convenience and safety reasons. Still, at the very least, the bean bud renders look interesting and show that Samsung's looking to mix things up going forward, instead of sticking to iterative updates. The model is also said to feature sensors that detect when the earpieces are in the ear, which would mean that the model would likely support auto-play and auto-pause functionality triggered by putting in or removing an earpiece. They feature two small loudspeakers with an outside channel for improved lows.
According to the report, these buds bear the model number SM-R180. Sadly though, the Galaxy Buds+ were just a minor upgrade over the previous generation and featured the same design with minimal improvements.
In the course of the last few years, we've seen multiple interesting designs for smartphone displays - notch design, punch hole camera design, curved display, waterfall display are some of the most popular ones that we've seen so far.
However, unlike many other in-ear headphones on the market, there is no soft silicone fitting to help the earbud stay within in the ear. These buds look better suited for people with smaller ears.
At this point in time, the sources allege that the new Galaxy Buds are in the first phase of validation testing with the development phase having mostly been completed. It remains to be seen if they come out as successful products or the company makes some changes to the design. Now, Samsung seems to be interested in crowding the market with yet another unique display design.
