This makes the moon not only full but is bigger and brighter than usual.

According to NASA, the moon will be fullest at 2:30 am (Tuesday morning) but will remain so into Wednesday morning.

The closest the Moon orbits the Earth from is about 226,000 miles (363,300km) - the lunar perigee. Signifying the start of spring, and all the worms that will be waking up to do their thing in the newly not-frozen soil, the Worm Moon goes by a number of other names as well.

Be that as it may, should very bad weather ruin the view, you can watch the Full Moon from the solace of your home.

Virtual Telescope Project is also streaming the phenomenon live on YouTube.

The free livestream is hosted above in the embedded YouTube player. The phenomenon happens about three or four times a year.

So, why are Supermoons so compelling to us?

Nolle defined a "super" Moon as "a new or full moon which occurs with the Moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit (perigee)".

ABC News reports that the first supermoon of 2020 appeared on February 9 and after this weekend, we'll see it again on April 8 and May 7.

Although the Super Worm Moon was a sight to behold it is not the biggest full moon of the year.

As indicated by The Old Farmer's Almanac, these surprising names were truly meant to monitor the changing seasons and climate.

There are other, slightly less exciting names for the March supermoon - including the Full Sap Moon, the Crow Moon and the Lenten Moon - but Worm Moon is the most common.

Southern tribes called this the worm moon after the earthworms that appear as the ground begins to thaws.
