President Donald Trump abruptly ended a press conference Monday after telling an American reporter who was born in China to "ask China" about coronavirus testing statistics.

"Why is this a global competition to you if every day Americans are still losing their lives and we are still seeing more cases every day?" she asked.

Rather than explain why he chooses to focus on testing capacity, Trump simply told the reporter, who is Chinese-American, that she should "ask China" why people are dying around the world from the novel coronavirus and then see what kind of answer she gets.
"And maybe that's a question you should ask China", Trump told Jiang, who was born in China.

"People rag on White House reporters for not covering Trump like they should", Lacy tweeted, "but he literally storms off when they ask hard questions".

Jiang persisted, wondering why it's so important for him to stress that the doing much better testing-wise than any other country when people are still losing their lives and there are many new cases every day. "Don't ask me. Ask China that question".

"It's not a nasty question", Jiang replied.

'I'm not saying that to you specifically.

According to a third female reporter working for PBS TV network, Trump called her next, but she motioned for Collins to ask her question, and that was the moment the president walked off the podium.

"Why are you saying that to me specifically?" asked Jiang, who was born in China and raised in West Virginia.
