  • LA County beaches to reopen on Wednesday

She went on to say that she hopes to lift restrictions over the next three months.

Ferrer said reopening will be slow due to the rising deaths and cases in the county.

Governor Gavin Newsom also supports this line of thinking but with the small caveat that he will allow individual counties to determine the reopening of malls for curbside pick-up only.

We'll keep you posted on the COVID-19 lockdown.

As much of California and many other states proceed with plans to reopen, Dr Anthony Fauci - a top member on the White House's Covid-19 task force - warned on Tuesday that moving too quickly risks a reemergence of the virus that "we will not be able to control", stressing that fall could see a new outbreak if containment measures are repealed too quickly. Although the stay at home order will likely be extended, some aspects of the order are being eased.

Urso had gone back to animal control to retrieve the dog, which obviously, was returned to her, the Daily Herald reported. He himself had been attacked by the same French bulldog last month, and the animal was taken away, Chief Lee said.

While Ferrer stated that there could be intermediate baby steps toward normalization during the coming three months, the Los Angeles Times reports that, in order to roll back restrictions completely, officials are looking for a variety of things to be in place that aren't yet ready.

Under a phased reopening plan the governor rolled out last week, some in-restaurant dining, auto washes and malls could also be allowed to reopen in coming weeks if public health officials in a county are able to demonstrate that the spread of the virus has stabilized, testing is sufficient and so is hospital capacity. Shopping centers including strip malls and outlet malls will be allowed to reopen with in-store customers in counties certified to have contained COVID-19, while vehicle washes and pet groomers can also resume operating with safeguards. To date, there have been 1,520 deaths attributed to coronavirus in the County - accounting for more than half of the statewide total.

Most of California failed that test, the Times analysis found. As the state approaches the next phase of the crisis, vastly different approaches are emerging. Not a single county in Southern California or the San Francisco Bay Area met the criteria. As of Tuesday afternoon, there are over 32,000 positive coronavirus cases in the county and nearly 1,600 deaths.

"I think it's time to open up", Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel said Tuesday. "It's going to be very tough to catch up".
