Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviews work of Power, Renewable Energy ministries

The Prime Minister reviewed the work of the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, last evening.
During the review, the policy initiatives including the revised tariff policy and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 were also discussed in view of the problems facing the power sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for improving the financial sustainability of the power sector in order to solve the issues prevailing in the sector especially the power distribution sector. He also emphasized that equipment usages in the power sector be "Make in India".
PM also pointed out that the problems in the power sector, especially of the electricity distribution segment, vary across regions and states. He said, instead of looking for a one-size-fits-all solution, the Ministry should put in place state-specific solutions to incentives each state to improve its performance.
