National Basketball Association champion JR Smith has become the latest high-profile figure to be caught up in the deadly riots in the U.S., with a disturbing video surfacing of the former Cleveland Cavaliers guard assaulting a man on a Los Angeles street.

The 34-year-old Smith is captured kicking the man multiple times on the ground, before unleashing a big punch to the person he claims smashed his vehicle window.

Smith is seen kicking the man when he is on the ground and then punching him when he gets up.

"I just want y'all to know right now before you all see this s- somewhere else", Smith said on one of his Instagram stories.

Smith explained the attack in an emotionally charged video - saying, "One of these motherfu**king white boys didn't know where he was going and broke my f**king window in my truck". He broke my window.

Protests have erupted throughout the country in the aftermath of George Floyd's death on Monday in Minneapolis.
