The German striker has been in prolific form once again in the Bundesliga and has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.

The report starts off by saying Guardiola "knows" Timo Werner will sign for either Liverpool or Chelsea this summer, with it then being stated that City had wanted him.

Chelsea are considering switching their attentions to Timo Werner if the RB Leipzig forward indicates he is willing to join them, sources have told ESPN. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have been in contact with RB Leipzig.

"The Plan A for Liverpool at the end of this season has always been to sign Werner".

The Germany worldwide has scored 31 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season and his departure would be a huge blow to the club.

By contrast, Werner's valuation is simple due to his £49m release clause.

Last week there were reports that Klopp had held talks with Werner a couple of times during the lockdown and now the Premier League side seem to have moved onto phase two - holding discussions with Leipzig.

The Manchester United and Liverpool target has a £49million release clause in his contract and would represent a cheaper option for Chelsea transfer guru Marina Granovskaia.
