Afterwards, the video shows a compilation of shops being destroyed during the last week, with the president saying the memory of Floyd is being "dishonored by rioters, looters and anarchists".

The killing of Floyd, the African American who died from asphyxiation while in the custody of the Minneapolis cops on May 25, triggered widespread days-long protests across the country against police injustice and racism. "George Floyd's last words, 'I can't breathe, ' have echoed across our nation and around the world", Biden tweeted.

On Friday, the 42-year-old Houston native, Jackson, shared a video on social media condemning President Donald Trump, promising the 45th president of the United States that he will only be a one-term commander-in-chief. Defying health experts, the president has aggressively encouraged states to re-open and has assailed state leaders by name who resist.

At the same time, he's taken an uneven approach to explosive racial tensions in the wake of Floyd's death.

The president spoke in the Rose Garden after the Labor Department said that US employers added 2.5 million workers to their payrolls last month. Economists had been expecting them instead to slash another 8 million jobs amid the ongoing fallout from the response to the pandemic.

The statistics are a reminder that employment for black workers tends to rebound more slowly during an economic recovery.

Speaking later in the day, former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, was sharply critical of Trump's reference to Floyd.

Trump also a signed an extension of the Paycheck Protection Program, the federal subsidy program that is helping keep millions on the job.

However while these figures sound encouraging, the U.S. unemployment rate remains higher than at any point during the financial crisis of the late 2000s.

Esquire Magazine boldly declared in its headline, "This Is the Most Singularly Batsh*t Crazy Thing Any President Has Said Out Loud in Public". The unemployment rate surprisingly fell to 13.3% from 14.7% in the last month amid projections by economists that the numbers will reach 20% for May.

But unemployment among black Americans has increased by 0.1 percent and by 0.5 percent among Asian Americans. The clip has garnered more than 1.4 million views on YouTube and Facebook combined. More than 108,000 people are confirmed to have lost their lives due to the coronavirus, according to a count from Johns Hopkins University.

Now, though, Trump said states and cities should be lifting remaining restrictions. They previously had to spend 75% of the money on maintaining payroll.

President Trump, touting May's lower-than-expected unemployment rate Friday, said a strong economy was the "greatest thing that could happen for race relations".

But there was little sign of concern among Trump and his Republican allies in Washington. He added: "Today is probably the greatest comeback in American history".
